30 Days Wild – Day 23 – Making Ice Cream and Eating Ice Cream

TWT 30 Days Wild_countdown_23Mango and Banana Ice Cream

I’m always on the look out for healthy, but tasty recipes I think our little munchkins would enjoy. My mum, who is the queen of health, (I’m not sure if she still drinks her broccoli water?) saved this recipe from the Telegraph Weekend for me. So thanks to Ella Woodward (who featured in The Telegraph) she has a fab website full of yummy healthy stuff here we are making ice cream. Well… not technically ice cream – not a drop of cream in sight (shame!) This ice cream is surprisingly creamy.

With Munashe off at nursery Zori got stuck in and helped chop up the fruit. I even learnt how to dice a mango – thanks to Dani Spies on YouTube.

The recipe is really simple. Cut up four bananas and one mango. Put in the freezer for at least four hours.

take out out of the freezer and leave to defrost slightly for 15 minutes. Put the fruit into a food processor and whizz up.

Not sure how wild today’s events were! We did cut the fruit up outside and eat the ice cream outside in the sun! Really we should have found some wild strawberries. I used to love these as a kid. We had some growing out of a wall in our back garden, there were so few of them but they were so flavoursome.

wild or not wild?

Sarah 🙂

  1. This looks lovely. I freeze fruit for smoothies and have often thought it is similar to a sorbet. Lovely pictures x #tastytuesdays
