All things Dragons was the theme for Munahse’s 5th Birthday Party. Munashe loves making things so I planned this suprise activity for Munashe and his friends to make at his party. A Roaring Fire Breathing Dragon.
I had first seen this activity on pinterest made with toilet rolls. Instead of using toilet rolls we thought a more sturdy option would be tin cans. I used a can opener to take both ends of the tin can. I cut out all the bits of paper, tissue paper and card the children would need to put these roaring dragons together. We love googley eyes. I bought the ones that had a sticky back so we wouldn’t have to wait for glue to dry!
the children used either glue or sellotape to stick the tissue paper fire onto their dragons.
We we had fun adapting the game ‘musical statues’ to ‘musical dragon roars’. Instead of standing like a statue when the music stopped the children had to make load roars through their dragons. 5 year olds do love to roar!

What a great idea! My kids are always roaring! This will give them plenty to roar about. I have a question though. How do you file down the sharp edges? Will a nail file do it? #KidsCorner

Our can opener is an old style which cuts down so doesn’t leave sharp edges. Great for upcycling all those tin cans. Happy Roaring!

I have 2 bags full of saved cans I use for crafts in Activity hour. I am adding this to the list of things to make next year. So far I have only made things removing one end of the can, taking off both opens up a whole new ‘can’ of ideas! A genius game to play with your dragons too, what a wonderful party it must have been. Thank you for sharing such a clever upcycling idea on #Trash2Treasure.

Lovely idea 🙂 It’s great that you can actually play with the dragon and not just let it sit on your shelf.
