When I was at school studying art I became really interested in the land art by Andy Goldsworthy. He creates really fantastic artwork in nature with nature. Do check out the link. In June we were involved in the #30DaysWild challenge (doing something wild every day for 30 days) and decided to have our own go at some land art.
We love collecting bits and bobs from nature, pine cones, sticks, stones, shells, feathers, conkers etc… So from our box of many things I started to create this heart made. It wasn’t long before the little munchkins became interested and joined in.
Since the #30DaysWild challenge we have spent some time in the local river building a dam but also attempting some rock balancing (well…more like stone balancing!)

Great works of art and so lovely to do something with nature too. We love to make rock art in the river and collect nature for pictures. It is a great way to encourage creative minds and fun to do. We are making nature model rafts this week at Coombe Mill for the children to race down the river. I bet your two would enjoy this.

Wow! I really love this land art. What a great way to teach kids about an artist, and shapes and form. I love your balancing stone. I never dared enough to make one myself as I fear it might tumble down and all my hard work is gone! lol! I think I will try again with the kids next time we are out in the woods. xx #FabFridayPost

There was a lot of tumbling. There’s some really awesome rock balancing out there which I can’t even imagine how it works. Balancing four was tricky enough!

I’d love to find someone else’s work. We did ours in the garden but it makes a lot of sense to leave wild art in the wild 😄
